Collectible Ray Ban W2844 OSAT Gold & Tortoise shell Sunglasses with case From a collector, these super cool Ray Ban sunglasses are in good condition. There are small "divot" marks around the frame edge of both lenses. You can feel them if you run your finger around the frame. The lenses, temple arms, and nose pads are in great condition. These glasses are very well made and have a little heft to them. I'm pretty sure the lenses are glass. It does come with a case that is in fair condition. Tiny pieces of the outer black shell are flaking off on handling so it is aging out. These glasses were made when Bausch and Lomb still owned the company. They sold Ray Ban to the Luxottica group in 1999, so this dates the glasses as pre-1999 (likely mid-1990s given that most of the collectors other items are from the early to mid-1990s). Authenticity: Ray Ban is inscribed on the upper left lense. There is also a Bausch and Lomb logo etched on the middle outside edge of each lense. The end of the left totoise shell part of the temple is inscribed with the model# 8244 as well as the letters OSAT. I think that together these form the serial number. On the middle exterior of the left arm is inscribed the Ray Ban logo. The right interior temple arm is inscribed with B&L then RAY(dot)BAN. I have seen several other pairs of these glasses listed with the same markings. I am no expert so I have authenticated to the best of the knowledge that I discovered by researching many websites and looking at other listings.
